For 28 years my practice has evolved, and I with it. I generally see many clients with injury, addiction and chronic illness, however, cancer continues to challenge me as a practitioner and it has become my main cause both professionally and personally. I am in awe of those with whom I work as I watch them find courage to fight their cancer and combat treatment side effects that often are uncomfortable and painful.
Beyond the physical fight, it is not unusual for people to experience intense psychological and spiritual growth during the various stages of the disease and treatment. To me, these shared experiences are invaluable in the understanding of some of the deepest fundamentals of life and I honor being a partner in helping each individual through this difficult time. It is during these struggles that I find acupuncture most useful. Not only does acupuncture aid the immune system and reduce the ill side effects from medical cancer treatment, but it can also comfort the emotional impact of the disease. Its efficacy has been reported in medical journals throughout the years, but to personally witness the benefits first-hand has been the most satisfying to me.
